• 0804193 – Art loan, a loan for the purchase of works of art.

  A proposal has been put forward requesting that the Municipality of Hafnarfjörður participates in special loan schemes for the purchase of artworks, alongside a bank or banks. The municipality and the bank each contribute to a fund which is used to pay down the interest on the loans.

  The matter was presented and the decision deferred to the next meeting.

• 0804191 – Grant from the Tourist Board.

  The cultural and tourism officer reported that a grant was received from the Tourism Board for improvements to the footpaths and signage at Seltún. The grant amounts to 1,500,000 kr.

• 0804189 – Attitudes towards the town centre of Hafnarfjörður

  Bjarni Reynarsson attended the meeting and went over a questionnaire designed as part of a survey into residents' attitudes towards the town centre.

  The committee presented its additions and proposals.

• 0804075 – Landvættur, sculpture by Einar Már Guðvarðarson

  The town council has requested an application from the culture and tourism committee for the potential purchase of the artwork.

  The committee refers to the handling of a comparable case when Halldór Ásgeirsson's outdoor artwork was under consideration and, as then, refers the matter to the Art Council of Hafnarfjörður for decision. The committee does not consider itself to have the professional basis to decide on the purchase of artworks.

• 0710071 – The Christmas Village in Hafnarfjörður

  A representative of the Independence Party requested a debate on why the Family Council had not acted on the Culture and Tourism Committee's proposal to appoint a working group concerning the Christmas Village.

  Guðmundur Rúnar Árnason, chairman of the Family Council, attended the meeting and reported on the discussion within the Family Council, and also stated that the matter would be dealt with at the next meeting of the Family Council.

• 0803068 – Víðistaðatún, campsite service building

  The Culture and Tourism Committee requests information on when the new service building at Víðistaðatún will be put into use.
