  Sæmundur Hafsteinsson, Director of Social Services, attended the meeting and outlined the activities of the social services and the main priorities for 2008.

General presentations

• 0802060 – Disabled people, services 2008-2010

  A submission from the Regional Office for Disability Affairs in Reykjanes, dated 5th February, requesting information from the City of Hafnarfjörður on planned works or measures concerning services for disabled children and/or adults in the years 2008-2010.

• 0701055 – Social rental flats

  Purchase of social rental flats pursuant to authorisation in the 2008 budget.

  The Family Council agrees to direct the Executive Board to commence preparations for the purchase of rental properties in accordance with available funding. When purchasing properties, special consideration will be given to distribution and to ensuring they meet the needs as defined by the Social Services.

  A summary from the Manpower Bureau on the employment situation in January 2008 was presented.

  A proposal from Guðmundur Tý Þórarinsson, dated February 2008, was presented, requesting a partnership between the municipality and Götusmiðjan to establish and run comprehensive support services for young people in crisis.
