      Discussion on the arrangements for the presentation of the school's policy, to be held at Víðistaðaskóli on Monday, 26th October at 17:15.

    • 0909258 – Training course delivery by the education department

      Course booklets for nursery and primary schools for the autumn term 2009 were presented for information.

      In the municipal council's policy statement from 13. June 2006 and in thCopenhagen Strategy of Hafnarfjörður 2009 states that staff development and continuing education must aim to enhance their ability to address school development professionally and in accordance with societal demands. The main objectives of the human resources policy state that employees of the City of Hafnarfjörður should achieve the following:Furthermore, it states that employees of the City of Hafnarfjörður are to achieve the objectives set by the City Council at any given time, and that it is a key requirement to have staff who can provide the best possible service available, based on their knowledge, responsibility and ambition. As stated in the submitted course brochures, a diverse range of courses is offered for both school stages.

      Kristbjörg Helgadóttir, Head Teacher of the nursery, Dadda Árnadóttir, Assistant Head Teacher at Kató, and Inga Fríða Tryggvadóttir, Head Teacher of the nursery at Smáralundi, presented the schools' curricula.

    • 0909274 – Research in the field of education - presentation

      At the Education Committee meeting on 12 January, Guðbjörg Vésteinsdóttir, a nursery school teacher and Master's student in public health, was granted permission to conduct research in Hafnarfjörður's nursery schools. At the meeting, Guðbjörg presented the results of her research, „The Well-being, Health and Development of Five- to Six-Year-Old Children in Preschool“.

    • 0910565 – Question from the representative of the Independence Party in the Education Committee

      A representative of the Independence Party requests information on the proportional breakdown of gross expenditure in the 2009 budget for Hafnarfjörður's primary schools. A breakdown of expenditure items on salary costs is requested, showing how much is spent on teaching, special education and administration, along with a comparison for the same expenditure items for the year 2005.
