      Eyjólfur was welcomed and wished every success in his role as chairman of the Education Committee. The Education Committee would like to thank Ellý Erlingsdóttir, the outgoing chair, for her cooperation and wishes her every success in her future endeavours.

  • 10021347 – School calendar 2010-2011

    The school calendars for the 2010-2011 school year for the primary schools were presented. Confirmations from the school councils of Ásland School, Engidal School, Hraunvallar School, Lækjar School and Öldutún School were also presented.

    The Education Committee approved the school calendars for those schools where the approval of their school councils is available, but the school calendar for Víðistaðaskóli, The school calendars for Víðistaðaskóli, and Hvaleyrarskóli were approved subject to the condition that the approval of their respective school councils is forthcoming.

    Hafrún Dóra abstained from the vote on the school calendar, as she is a member of the Lækjarskóli school board.

  • 0811240 – Education Council, grant awards

    A letter from the chair of the parents' association of the Lækjarskóli school choir and the school's head teacher is considered, requesting a grant for a trip to a choral festival in Malmö, Sweden, from 12th to 15th May. A cost estimate is also presented.

    The Education Committee approved a grant of 100,000 krónur for the Lækjarskóli school choir to participate in the choral festival.

    Hafrún Dóra abstained from the vote, as she is a member of the Lækjarskóli school board when the school choir's application was considered.

  • 0909015 – Secondary schools, changes to funding

    A letter dated 8 February from the Ministry of Education and Culture to the Education Department of Reykjavík was presented, concerning an enquiry about the right of primary school pupils to pursue studies at secondary school level in accordance with Article 26 of the Primary Education Act No. 91/2008.

    The observer representatives for the primary schools left the meeting at 9:40 a.m.

    A letter from the parents' council of Hlíðarberg nursery school, regarding the premises, was taken up again from the previous meeting.
