1111022 – Question to the Planning and Building Officer
Enquiry about cutting into a concrete wall to open access to the balcony/deck on the west side of the house at Suðurvangur 25a. The wall does not reach the building's outer wall, so the work has no impact on the load-bearing structure. The work will greatly increase the usability of the balcony, which is at the same level as the front garden. The visual impact would be negligible, as can be seen from the attached photographs where the opening is marked in red. The opening is barely visible when approaching the house. Please see the attached documents.
The Planning and Building Officer is positive about the enquiry, but points out that the work requires a building permit and must have the consent of the co-owners in the terraced house.
