Introduction

• 2011 budget for the municipal fund, revision

  Atli Þórsson, Operations Manager for Family Services, attended the meeting and presented the revised 2011 financial plan. A timetable for the work on the 2012 budget was also presented. A working meeting of the council is scheduled for Wednesday, 9th November at 18:00.

• 1110333 – Disabled people, rules on grants for study and for the purchase of tools and equipment

  Hrönn Hilmarsdóttir attended the meeting and presented a draft of new rules.

  The Family Council approves the draft subject to the discussions at the meeting.

General presentations

• 1111011 – Pensioners' Association, protest

  A letter from the Association of Senior Citizens of Hafnarfjörður was presented, along with a minutes from the association's board meeting held on 19th October, in which the decision by the Minister of Welfare to close St. Joseph's Hospital in Hafnarfjörður is strongly protested.

  The Family Council shares the concerns of the Senior Citizens' Association and reiterates the town council's resolution of 12th October.

• 1009213 – Disabled people, affairs, transfer

  A report was presented, prepared by the Social Science Institute of the University of Iceland for the Ministry of Welfare; Transfer of services for people with disabilities from the state to municipalities – Oct. 2011, mapping the state of services prior to the transfer.$line$ Also presented was a presentation by Dr Guðbjörg Jónsdóttir and Dr Rannveig Traustadóttir; The state of affairs for disabled people before the transfer from the state to local authorities.

• 1110016 – Employment issues for young people

  A memorandum from the Minister for Social Affairs to the Government, dated. 28.10.2011, regarding the establishment of a job fair in the municipalities of the capital region, in cooperation with the Ministry of Welfare and the Employment Authority, to serve young unemployed people.

  The Family Council approves the current proposal. The Director is tasked with continuing to work on the matter and finalising the agreement.

• 0701245 – The employment situation

  A report from the Employment Service on the employment situation in September 2011 was presented.

• 0912025 – Unemployment figures, Hafnarfjörður

  Figures on unemployment in Hafnarfjörður over the past 13 months have been presented.

  The Family Council requests a further breakdown of the number of unemployed people by length of unemployment.

• 1110326 – Parents' Council of Hafnarfjörður, observer on the Family Council

  A proposal from the Parents' Council of Hafnarfjörður, dated 27th October, requesting a representative with speaking rights at meetings of the Family Council of Hafnarfjörður.
