• 0907038 – Fee schedules in the education sector

  At the Education Committee meeting on 22 August, it was requested that at this meeting data be presented on how the current reimbursement system compares with the previous system.

  Guðmundur Sverrisson, Operations Manager for Educational Services, went over how the outcome is today in the current reimbursement system.

• 1104364 – Nursery school calendars 2011-2012

  A request from the deputy head teacher of the Hamravellir nursery school to change the planning day from 27 September 2011, due to a staff study trip to Denmark. It is requested that 20 April 2012 be designated as the planning day instead. Also submitted is a request from the head teacher of Smáralundur nursery for the planning day to be moved, due to a staff study and familiarisation trip to Denmark, so that instead of 27 September, the planning day will be on Friday, 23 September.

  The Education Committee approves the proposals from both schools, as the approval of the parent councils is already in place.

• 1108345 – Safety of schoolchildren

  Review the situation in the wake of recent events. The mayor has set up a working group that will develop a response plan.

  The head of department reviewed the schools' responses.

• 11023021 – Youth centres and all-day school

  Follow-up from the last meeting of the Education Committee: a question from representatives of the Independence Party.

  The stage manager presented and went over the answers to the question.

• 0909258 – Education Department, course delivery

  The Development Officer presented draft ideas for forthcoming courses for representatives on the school councils of the primary schools in Hafnarfjörður, as well as introducing a course that is being launched for the staff of the primary schools.

  The parent representative for nursery children left the meeting at 9:40.

• 1009199 – Quarterly report of the education department

  Review the division's quarterly accounts.

  The Operations Manager for Educational Services reviewed the department's quarterly accounts.

• 1008206 – Hjalli School

  A report was submitted, together with a revised school calendar, from the Managing Director of the Hjalli School System, Margrét Pála Ólafsdóttir, regarding the start of term at the Hjalli School on Hjallabraut.

  The Education Committee instructs the Director of the Department to request further information from the school's governing body and the Department for Education and Culture, in light of the school's report.
