    • 1011405 – Leisure vehicle, collaboration, extension

      To be taken up again.

The town council instructs the mayor to finalise an extension until the end of the year of the current collaboration.

    • 1106196 – Bus - Álftanes

Taken up again. A proposal is put forward for the City of Hafnarfjörður to support SSH's proposal to temporarily increase services to the municipality of Álftanes.

The Town Council approves the proposed recommendations by 3 votes to 2.$line$$line$Borough councillors of the Independence Party record the following:$line$The Municipality of Hafnarfjörður is in serious financial difficulty. A loan of over four billion kronur has been in arrears for months, and there is still uncertainty about the outcome of its refinancing. The town has had to implement various painful austerity measures in recent months and quarters. These measures include redundancies, budget cuts, streamlining, and increases in service charges. A significant reduction in funding for the Summer School has resulted in a group of young people from the town now being unemployed. A few days ago, it was decided to increase meal charges in the town's primary and nursery schools. Many grant applications for various community projects (including to the Red Cross, SÁÁ and the Single Parents' Association) have been rejected due to a lack of funds. The list goes on. In light of this, we, the undersigned, believe it is a direct insult to the taxpayers of Hafnarfjörður that the majority is proposing that the people of Hafnarfjörður should pay for services in other municipalities. Hafnarfjörður is struggling to pay its own bills and therefore we oppose acceding to the request for increased cost-sharing with Strætó bs in order to improve transport in Álftanes. $line$$line$The councillors for the Social Democratic Alliance and the Left-Green Party record the following:$line$Despite the difficult financial situation of many municipalities in the capital region, there is full solidarity among them to ensure continuity of service in public transport in the region, regardless of the municipality. Participation in a joint authority entails obligations as well as rights. It is in the vital interest of residents across the entire region that the services of the joint authorities meet minimum standards. The booking of the Independence Party representative speaks for itself and clearly highlights a different political vision. $line$

    • 1107101 – SSH, public transport in the capital region

A proposal from SSH, sent by email on 5 July, regarding a letter of intent with the state concerning public transport in the area was presented.

The Town Council agrees to authorise SSH to sign the „Declaration of Intent between the Government and the Association of Local Authorities in the Capital Region on a pilot project to enhance public transport“ and to conduct negotiations based on it.

    • 11023021 – Youth centres and all-day school

Submissions that have been under discussion in the Family and Education Committee were presented.

The Hafnarfjörður Town Council agrees to combine the operation of all-day schools and youth clubs into a single unit in each school, under the management of the Office of Youth Affairs and Family Services. The importance of simultaneously working on professional strategic planning for leisure activities, as stated in the review from the Faculty of Education, University of Iceland, is acknowledged. The Town Council thanks all those who submitted comments on the report from the working group on the organisation of full-day schools in Hafnarfjörður and emphasises that they will be taken into consideration in the ongoing work regarding the merger of youth centres and full-day schools.schools and the transfer of the all-day school from the education department to the youth affairs office. The Town Council instructs the Director of Administration to implement the merger and emphasises the importance of the implementation being carried out in close cooperation and with the agreement of staff, parents and pupils. $line$ $line$Bayráðsfulltrúar Sjálfstæðisflokksins make the following record:$line$The councillors of the Independence Party approve the proposal, as it is urgently necessary to remove the uncertainty that has prevailed regarding the operation of the town's full-day schools and leisure centres in recent years. It would have been desirable for a professional and operational assessment of the pros and cons of the merger to have been available before it was approved. It is also regrettable how late the proposal has been presented, as there are only a few weeks until the school term begins, leaving limited time for staff and other stakeholders to adapt to the changes. The decision must be reviewed in a year's time.

    • 1104027-1 – Vacant plots and prices 2011

The Town Council agrees that the plots will be advertised on the basis of the existing terms, with the comments made during the meeting.

Report on changes to the operation of the Swimming Pool. A minutes from yesterday's Family Council, 6th July, was presented.
