  1. General presentations

    • 1105363 – National Curriculum for Early Years

      A new national curriculum for nurseries has been presented.

      ;

    • 11032689 – Question from the representative of parents of nursery school children.

      The Head of Psychology for Nurseries and the Nursery Development Officer reviewed specialist services for nursery children.

    • 1105362 – Agreement between the municipalities of the Capital Region on nursery attendance

      Draft agreement on the nursery attendance of children transferring between nurseries in the capital region was presented.

      The Operations Manager for the Education Department attended the meeting and went through the draft together with the Early Years Development Officer. The Education Committee approves the agreement, which is valid until 31 December 2011.  Furthermore, the Education Committee reiterates the importance of immediately commencing work on the revision of the guidelines of the Association of Icelandic Municipalities on payments for nursery attendance outside the child's home municipality.;

    • 1105356 – ADHD Association

      A letter dated 12 May 2011 regarding the activities of the organisation was presented.

    • 1105011 – Action plan for Agenda 21.

      A proposal for a report by the education department on the revision of Agenda 21 was presented.

      The Education Committee instructs the education department to finalise a report on the revision of the Local Agenda 21, based on the proposal submitted, and also adopts the report.

  • 11021819 – School calendar 2011-2012

    The school council of Setbergsskóli submitted an opinion on the reorganisation of planning days.

    The Education Committee approves the change to the Setbergsskóli school calendar, provided that the school's own school council has given its consent.The observer from the nursery headteacher left the meeting at 9.45 a.m.;

  • 1008205 – Main curriculum for primary schools based on the Primary Education Act of 2008

    Drafts of the new general framework of the national curriculum for primary schools were presented.

  • 1105358 – Letter from the Association of Primary School Teachers in Hafnarfjörður

    A letter dated 11 May 2011 from the Association of Primary School Teachers in Hafnarfjörður was presented, which emphasises the well-being of teachers during a period of streamlining in school operations.

    The Education Committee thanks the board of the Hafnarfjörður Primary School Teachers' Association for their submission and agrees on the importance of teachers, as well as other staff and pupils, feeling well at work.  Furthermore, the Education Committee points out that courses for teachers, aimed at increasing well-being at work, are being prepared for the next school year.;

  • 0804176 – School Games, application for a grant

    A letter dated May 2011 was presented, describing the competition and requesting financial support of 200,000 kr. to cover the costs of the project.

  • 1105365 – Parents' Association of Hraunvallar School

    A letter, undated, from the Hraunvallaskóli Parents' Association regarding the school grounds was presented.

    The Education Committee agrees with the Hraunvallaskóli Parents' Association that it is important to make improvements to the school grounds.  The Education Committee instructs the Director of Education to forward the request to the Operations Department and to call a meeting with the school's governing body to review possible solutions.

    A representative of primary school parents requests that this be carried out quickly and efficiently.
    The observer representatives of nursery staff and parents of nursery children left the meeting at 10:15.

  • 1105361 – Music studies, agreement

    An agreement was presented between the Ministry of Education and Culture and the Association of Icelandic Municipalities on the strengthening of music education and the equalisation of students' access to music education. $line$Vrepresenting this item was Gunnar Gunnarsson, headmaster of the Hafnarfjörður Music School.

    The observer for the head teacher of the primary school left the meeting at 10:35.
    Thanks were given to Gunnar.
    The Education Committee welcomes the proposed agreement and instructs the Education Department, together with the management of the Hafnarfjörður Music School, to review the overall picture of music education in Hafnarfjörður following this agreement.

    The Operations Manager of the Education Department presented the Education Department's three-month report.

  • 0708153 – Recognition of the Education Council

    The Education Department's proposals for this year's awards were presented.

    The Education Committee approves the Education Department's recommendations for accreditations.;
