  1. General presentations

    • 1104364 – Nursery school calendars 2011-2012

      Norðurberg, school calendar. A letter was presented from the head teacher of Norðurberg requesting the education board's approval for planning days that were scheduled for 17 November 2011 and 2. January 2012 be moved to 18 and 19 August 2011 due to a staff training trip.

      The Education Committee approves the request of the head teacher of Norðurberg Nursery School, as the consent of the parents' council for these changes is already in place.;

      Answers to a question from the representative of parents of nursery school children, dated 28th March, were presented.

      The nursery school observers left the meeting at 8:45.;

    • 1104350 – School meetings 2011

      Comments, proposals and discussions from information and consultation meetings on primary school matters were presented. From 5 to 13 April, information meetings were held.- and consultation meetings were held in all the town's primary schools, where the implementation of the budget for the next school year was presented. Suggestions and consultation were also sought from the school community on possible ways to achieve the objectives set out in the year's budget.of its.$line$$line$

  • 11021819 – School calendar 2011-2012

    Submissions from the primary school councils regarding the 2011-2012 school calendars were presented.A request from the headteacher of Setberg School was presented to move the planning days from 27 September and 17 November to 24 and 25 October due to a staff study trip.$line$$line$The School Board notes this but does not object to it. $line$$line$In Hraunvallaskóli's school calendar, a planning day scheduled for the 17th is planned. November will be moved to 29 February due to a staff study trip.$line$$line$ The School Council agrees to this on its part.$line$$line$

    The Education Committee takes up the matter from Setbergs School, subject to the approval of the school's own council.The Education Committee approves Hraunvallaskóli's request to reschedule the planning day.;

  • 11023156 – Delivery of PE teaching in Hafnarfjörður

    A letter dated 12 April 2011 from the Ministry of Education and Culture regarding the delivery of physical education in Hafnarfjörður, in response to a related enquiry of 18 February.

    The Education Committee instructs the Director of Education to request detailed information on the organisation of physical education for the 2011 academic year.-2012 and emphasises the importance of fulfilling the requirements for the statutory number of PE lessons, as per the letter from the Ministry of Education and Culture dated 12 April 2011.;

  • 1008205 – Main curriculum for primary schools based on the Primary Education Act of 2008

    A letter dated 13 April from the Ministry of Education and Culture was presented, introducing revised draft general guidelines for the core curriculum of primary schools. Comments and reviews are requested by 1 May 2011.

    The Education Council requests that a draft report be available for the next meeting of the Council.;

  • School libraries

    A letter dated 15 April 2011 from Röddum, an association for quality reading aloud and presentation, was presented, in which the municipalities are urged to protect the primary school libraries and the important work that takes place there.

    Report of the working group on all-day schooling was presented.

    The matter will be taken for substantive consideration at the next meeting of the council.;
