  Geir Bjarnason attended the meeting and presented a new survey on the sale of tobacco to young people.

• 1110180 – Employment Centre and Supported Employment (AMS) - Status Report

  Guðjón Árnason attended the meeting and reported on the status of the project.

  The Family Council emphasises that the renewal of the agreement with the Employment Office for the continued cooperation between the City of Hafnarfjörður and the agency on the operation of the Employment Centre should be finalised.

• 1211298 – Work and activity, Employment drive 2013

  Presentation of a joint proposal by the organisations of the labour market parties, the government and the Association of Icelandic Municipalities for an initiative to support the long-term unemployed. The main objective of the project is to re-engage unemployed people who have exhausted, or will exhaust, their entitlement under the unemployment benefit scheme, in the labour market, and to prevent long-term unemployment from leading to unemployment incapacity. The project was presented at a meeting of the Association of Icelandic Municipalities with representatives from 18 municipalities on 14 November. A proposal for the project has received the approval of the Board of the Unemployment Insurance Fund, and the fund is expected to contribute 2.7 billion to the project next year. The Government of Iceland approved the Minister for Social Affairs' proposal for the project, and thus the state's participation in it, at its meeting on 16 November. The Reykjavík City Council unanimously approved the city's participation in the project at its meeting on 22 November. A memo from the director of the department regarding the initiative was also presented.

  The Family Council recommends that the Town Council approve entering into an agreement for the participation of the Borough of Hafnarfjörður in the project, based on the proposal before it.
