  1. General presentations

    • 1006286 – Environmental and resource policy.

The Department of Environment and Operations requests comments and observations from the Culture and Tourism Committee regarding the Environment and Resource Policy.

The Cultural and Tourism Committee endorses the observations in the report concerning improved accessibility, signage, and education about the natural environment of the town and its surroundings. Furthermore, that ranger patrols in Krysuvík will be increased and that the use of resources will be managed in such a way as to cause as little disruption as possible to other activities, such as tourism and outdoor recreation. The Committee emphasises that the utilisation of geothermal energy in Sveifluhálsi must be carried out in such a way as not to cause disruption in and around Seltún, and that the project's feasibility must be assessed on the basis of a cost-benefit analysis. All development in this magnificent area must be approached with caution so that future generations can also enjoy it.

    • 1101215 – Straumsvík Stream, lease agreement

Viking Circle, a tenant of Straums, will be moving out on 1 January 2013.

The Culture and Tourism Committee requests that Straumur be advertised for rent as soon as possible.

    • 1211293 – Grant application to create a database on the development of Hafnarfjörður's town centre from 1800 to the present day.

Architect Gunnar Logi Gunnarsson is seeking a grant to create a database on the development of Hafnarfjörður's town centre from 1800 to the present day.
