• Election of the chairman of the Culture and Tourism Committee.

  At the town council meeting on 10 October, the following was approved: $line$ $line$ The Chair put forward the following proposal to change the appointment of representatives to the Culture and Tourism Committee: $line$“Main member:$line$Dagbjört Gunnarsdóttir, Víðivangi 3, in place of Þorsteinn Kristinsson;$line$Alternate member:$line$Ásbjörn Óskarsson, Kríuási 15, in place of Dagbjört Gunnarsdóttir.“$line$$line$No other nominations were made and the above are deemed duly elected as the main and reserve member to the Culture and Tourism Committee. The committee's composition remains otherwise unchanged. $line$

  Dagbjört Gunnarsdóttir was elected Chair of the Culture and Tourism Committee. The representative of the Independence Party is absent. Dagbjört was welcomed to her post. It was agreed that Ómar Ásbjörn Óskarsson would be Dagbjört's deputy.

  Submission from the Hafnarfjörður Tourist Association: Why is Hafnarfjörður not included in the plan for the Reykjanes Geopark? The board of the Tourist Association concludes that it would be better if the City of Hafnarfjörður were a member of the Reykjanes Geopark. The tourism association proposes that work on the tourism strategy for Hafnarfjörður, along with an opinion poll and an implementation plan, be presented as a possible project for tourism studies professionals from the higher education community.$line$C: The Tourist Board of Hafnarfjörður intends to apply for an IPA grant. It is requested that the Municipality of Hafnarfjörður would have a role in the implementation of the project but would not bear any responsibility.

  A: A formal invitation has not been received from the Reykjanes Geopark. The committee has met with the project manager of the Reykjanes Visitor Centre and has shown interest in the project.$line$B: The committee is sticking to the original work plan for Hafnarfjörður's tourism strategy for the time being.$line$C: The committee expresses interest in the project and encourages the Hafnarfjörður Tourist Board in the application process.
