    • 1209541 – Parents' Council of Hafnarfjörður, grant application

      A grant application from the Parents' Council of Hafnarfjörður for the sum of 75,000 kr. was submitted. to cover the cost of a course for the boards of parent associations in Hafnarfjörður's primary schools, parent representatives on the primary school boards in Hafnarfjörður, and parent representatives on the Hafnarfjörður Parent Council.

      The Education Committee unanimously agrees to grant the requested funding to the Parents' Council of Hafnarfjörður.

    • School meals

      Adopted a subscription-based model for school lunches in primary schools.

      Ingibjörg Einarsdóttir, Office Manager at the Education Office, and Guðmundur Ragnar Ólafsson, the council's Procurement Manager, attended the meeting and went over the meal subscription arrangements. The Education Committee decides that the system for food orders in primary schools will not be changed for the time being due to foreseeable costs.

    • 1209529 – Survey of the association and FG - report

      The results of a joint survey by the Association of Icelandic Municipalities and the Federation of Primary School Teachers were presented for information.

      The primary school development officer went over the main findings.

    • 1201501 – Inspections of nurseries 2012

      A letter from the Ministry of Education and Culture, dated 13 September 2012, was presented, announcing an inspection of Stekkjarrás Nursery School.

      Presented for information. The application from the City of Hafnarfjörður for an inspection of the Hvammi nursery school is still under consideration.

    • 1208508 – Smáralundur, name change

      Actions from the last council meeting.

      The Education Committee unanimously agrees to recommend to the Town Council that the name of the merged nursery school, Smáralundar and Kató, be Brekkuhvammur.

    • 0907038 – Fee schedules in the education sector

      The nursery fee schedule and income thresholds for additional discounts, as reviewed since the last meeting.

      Presented for information. It was noted that the benchmarking thresholds are under review for the 2013 budget.

      Review the rules and reimbursement rates for the care of children from Hafnarfjörður by day-care providers.
