The Framför Reading Society is the oldest reading society in the country and meets monthly at Hafnarfjörður Library, led by the literary scholar Hjalti Snæ Ægisson.

The book of the month is ‘Blue’ by Maja Lunde, which tells the story of Signe. She is in her seventies when she visits her childhood home in Norway. There, she is confronted by extensive hydroelectric development, and she sails nervously to meet a man she once loved, in his cabin, which is called Blá – but below deck, she is keeping a strange cargo. A quarter of a century later, David is on the run north through France with his young daughter. Endless droughts have driven them from home, where merciless fires are raging. One day, they find a well-hidden boat on a remote farm, and countless questions arise…
