Easier access to information in one place

It has been opened A new and ambitious leisure website for the Municipality of Hafnarfjörður. The website contains all the key information about courses and leisure activities in the municipality, and it is possible to filter the sports and leisure activities by age.

All clubs, businesses and organisations in Hafnarfjörður have been encouraged to register information about everything they have to offer, and the scope and content depend on the activity and registration of all those who provide courses and leisure activities within Hafnarfjörður. „We are responding to a call from residents, the municipality's young people, including from the youth council and the 2022 youth assembly, and from the multicultural council for better access to information about what is on offer within the town's boundaries. There is so much on offer everywhere, and it's positive to make it easier for residents to find a suitable leisure activity or sport.“ says Stella B. Kristinsdóttir, professional manager for leisure activities and prevention at the City of Hafnarfjörður.

The dream is to have everything in one place

The aim of the new leisure website is to improve access to information about the availability of sports and leisure activities in Hafnarfjörður. It is hoped that in the future, residents will be able to rely on information about almost all leisure activities and recreational opportunities in the municipality, for all age groups and all year round, being accessible in one single place. Those clubs, organisations and institutions that have yet to register information about their offerings, for example for the summer, can still do so via the new website: www.tomstund.is and are responsible for updating their own information. „This is a collaborative project for all of us,“says Stella.
