The Bjartir dagar cultural festival begins in Hafnarfjörður tomorrow, Thursday 1 June, on the town's 115th anniversary. The festival celebrates its 20th anniversary this year and a varied and entertaining programme of events will be on offer throughout June. The festival begins with pupils in the third grade singing in the summer, led by Guðrún Árný, at Thorsplan at 10 a.m. Additionally, nursery school children have decorated businesses, shops and institutions throughout the town with their art, and at 17:00 a new exhibition about the Hafnarfjörður Police will be opened at the Hafnarfjörður Folk Museum by the Chief Constable of the Capital Region.

Summer celebrated with a variety of festivities

Bjartir dagar is a participation festival where institutions, voluntary organisations, businesses, sports clubs, musicians and individuals take part in creating events throughout the town connected to the festival, or participate in the programmes organised by others. The energy and vibrancy of the arts scene in Hafnarfjörður has, among other things, been reflected in the 'Walk into Town' event, where artists, artists, designers and craftspeople from the small boat harbour to the centre of Hafnarfjörður open their studios on Friday evening, welcoming visitors and passers-by. Additionally, some shops in the town centre will be open late, making it the ideal opportunity to shop for unique design and art in the heart of Hafnarfjörður. Various music events feature prominently in this year's Bjartra Dagar programme, as in previous years, and there are also many sporting events throughout the town of Hafnarfjörður, but on the 8th. th June, the Hafnarfjörður Run will be held for the first time on the town's streets, thereby joining the small group of road races in Iceland.
