Seamen's Day in Hafnarfjörður is celebrated with an entertainment programme at Flensborg Harbour from 1 pm to 5 pm on Sunday 4 June. Rowing races, artists' studios, rescue equipment, boat trips, a fish exhibition and much more.

Seafarers' Day in Hafnarfjörður is celebrated with an entertainment programme at Flensborg Harbour from 13:00 to 17:00 on Sunday, 4th June. Numerous teams are registered for a competitive rowing race starting at 13:00, artists' studios by the harbour will be open to visitors, and the rescue equipment of the Hafnarfjörður Rescue Squad will be on display. At the Þyt Sailing Club, you will be able to try out kayaks and rowing boats, and a fish exhibition from the Marine Research Institute will be in the area in front of the institute's headquarters at Háabakki. There will be a display of fish and invertebrates, from common commercial fish such as cod and haddock to rarer species, and an open house will be held on the first floor.

Cruise, powerboat races and shows

The Harbour of Hafnarfjörður offers sightseeing cruises every half an hour, entertainment takes place at Flensborg Harbour, strongmen compete and the strongest man in Iceland will be crowned at the end of the day. A new photography exhibition by the Folk Museum has been set up on the Harbour Promenade, the Bookless Bungalow features an exhibition on the era of the foreign fishing fleets, and in Siggubær, visitors can see a display of a seafarer's home in Hafnarfjörður from the first half of the 20th century. The organisers of the celebrations encourage residents of Hafnarfjörður and visitors to make their way down to the harbour, celebrate Sea Day and enjoy what the harbour, for which the town is named, has to offer.
