Eruption has begun at Litla Hrut – useful information
The Civil Defence alert level has been activated due to an eruption that has begun at Litla Hrutur.
The National Commissioner of Police, in consultation with the police in the South-West, has activated the emergency level of Civil Defence for the eruption that has begun at Litla Hraun. Civil Defence is urging people not to approach the eruption site. It is important to keep the area safe. Scientists are at work assessing the situation.
We encourage residents to pay close attention to notifications from Civil Protection, as well as to check the air quality information system for gas pollution.
