The building control officer granted planning permission for the construction of a sports hall and service building on 25 January 2023, in accordance with the Building Regulations (No. 112/2012). The grant of planning permission was appealed, seeking its annulment. On 6 July, the Environmental and Resource Appeals Board issued a ruling rejecting the request to annul the building permit for the sports hall and service buildings at Ásvellir.
