The Hafnarfjörður Library invites everyone who wishes to take part in the Poland Reading Challenge, as we begin with the work of the novelist Eliza Orzeszkowa, “Nad Niemnem“, which is one of the most important works of Polish literature and deals with the January Uprising – when the Polish people fought against the rule of the Russian Empire – 160 years have now passed.
After the reading, there will be a marathon reading of the Icelandic-Polish work *Þankaganga/Myslobieg* by Agnieszka Nowak and Vala Þórsdóttir, which will run until 19:00.

The Public Library in Hafnarjörður warmly invites you to take part in the National Reading initiative. This year, we will be transported to the picturesque regions of the River Neman thanks to Eliza Orzeszkowa's most famous novel, „On the Neman“. It is one of the most important works of Polish literature, tackling the theme of the January Uprising, the 160th anniversary of which is being celebrated in 2023.
Following the National Reading Day, we invite you to a reading marathon in Polish and Icelandic, which will last until 7 pm. We will be reading the book Þankaganga/Myślobieg by Agnieszka Nowak and Vali Þórsdóttir.
