Grants for study costs and the purchase of tools and equipment
Hafnarfjörður draws attention to the opportunity for disabled people who require specific support due to their disability to apply for a grant under Article 25 of the Act No. 38/2018 on services for disabled people with long-term support needs. The grants are awarded for education and for the purchase of equipment and tools for disabled people with long-term support needs.
The deadline for grant applications for November is 27th October.
The grant is intended to enable disabled people to acquire the knowledge and experience to increase their opportunities to be active participants in society. The conditions for the grant are that the applicant is a resident of Hafnarfjörður, is aged 18 or over, and has a permanent disability assessment. Local authorities are permitted to provide a grant towards the payment of tuition costs (course and school fees, and learning materials) that are not covered by other legislation. A grant may also be provided for tools- and equipment purchases or other assistance for home-based work or self-employment upon completion of rehabilitation, provided the activity is considered to have value as social training or rehabilitation aimed at increasing the opportunities for disabled people to be active in society. The right to an award will lapse if an application for a grant is not submitted within 12 months of the expense being incurred. The date on the original payment receipt shall be taken as the reference date.
