Planning and Assessment Statement for the Hafnarfjörður Core Plan 2026–2038

Do you want to influence the future of Hafnarfjörður? – An information meeting will be held at the Hafnarborg pharmacy on Thursday, 7th December, regarding the so-called planning statement, which provides a good overview of the town's future planning implications.   Everyone now has the opportunity to submit suggestions and comments at this stage, which the local council will take into consideration when drawing up the final proposal for the local plan..

At the meeting of the Hafnarfjörður Town Council on 22 November 2023, a planning statement for the Hafnarfjörður General Plan 2026–2038 was approved.

A planning statement contains information that provides a clear and comprehensive picture of the planning proposals and the planning process, and it also sets out how the environmental assessment will be conducted in the preparation of the proposal.   This is a kind of vision that provides a fairly clear picture of how development in Hafnarfjörður will be carried out in the coming years.

The local council/planning committee shall take into account comments and suggestions received from the public and stakeholders when preparing the proposal, but no response will be given to comments at the scoping stage.

Individuals, organisations and other stakeholders are permitted to submit comments on the description, which is also available on the website of the City of Hafnarfjörður and in the planning portal of the Planning Authority.  and must be received no later than 15 January 2024 at the email address: skipulag@hafnarfjordur.is and it is also possible to submit suggestions via the planning authority's planning portal.
