The City of Hafnarfjörður sends special congratulations to the members of the women's associations in Hafnarfjörður and across the country on this day, with heartfelt thanks for their invaluable contribution to the development and strengthening of the community in their respective places over the years. And not least with regard to the affairs of children, women and families, which have been particularly close to the hearts of the women's association members.

The Day of the Women's Guild member, which is the founding day of the Women's Guild Association of Iceland, was formally designated as the Day of the Women's Guild member in 2010 to draw attention to the extensive and selfless work of the women's guild members. The day has become beautifully established in recent years and is celebrated widely, mainly among the women of the women's associations themselves, who celebrate their harvest and achievements. The City of Hafnarfjörður encourages the people of Hafnarfjörður and friends of the city to remember the day and honour the women of the women's associations with kind thoughts and words. The selfless work of the women, which is often carried out on a voluntary basis, is and has been extremely important to the community here in Hafnarfjörður.
