There will be a half-term holiday in the primary schools and the Hafnarfjörður Music School on Thursday, 22nd February and Friday, 23rd February. To mark the occasion, the Healthy City of Hafnarfjörður invites children and their families to take part in a fun programme during the winter break and to find great ideas for fun and varied activities for the whole family across Hafnarfjörður on the city's website. Among other things, there is free swimming for children and adults on these two days at Ásvallalaug, Suðurbæjarlaug and Sundhöll Hafnarfjarðar.

Thursday, 22 February 

  • FREE Swimming from 6:30-22 at Ásvallalaug and Suðurbæjarlaug, and at the Sundhöll until 21:00. 
  • A treasure hunt for the children and interesting exhibitions at Hafnarfjörður Museum of Local History. Open 11 am - 3 pm  
  • On Hafnarfjörður Library The instrument workshop, a workshop in the children's section and the scavenger hunt 'Find Valla!' will be open.
  • Artists Lukas Bury and Unnur Mjöll Leifsdóttir will lead a colourful collage workshop in Port city
  • Keilir Golf Club invites everyone interested to attend golf training sessions with a coach at 15:00 or 16:00 at Hraunkot. Each session lasts approximately 50 minutes. We provide clubs and balls for the duration of the session.
  • Open house at the Hafnarfjörður Badminton Club in the Sports Hall on Strandgata from 1 pm to 3 pm. Everyone welcome to try badminton; shuttlecocks and rackets are available to borrow on site. Register online. Badminton Association

Friday, 23 February

  • FREE SWIMMING from 6:30 am to 8 pm at Ásvallalaug and Suðurbæjarlaug, and at the Swimming Hall until 9 pm.
  • A treasure hunt for the children and a children's tour of Hafnarfjörður Museum of Local History 13:00. Open 11:00-15:00
  • Come and do treasure map á The library – perfect for young explorers and cartographers! The workshop runs from 13:00 to 16:00, with all materials provided and it's open to everyone. There will also be open instrument sessions and you can take part in the 'Find Valla!' scavenger hunt!
  • Í Port city Thóra Breiðfjörð, a designer, will be holding a workshop where clay will be worked with in a creative way.
  • The Keilis Sports Director will be welcoming interested participants from 10:00 to 11:30. Clubs and balls will be available to borrow for use both indoors and outdoors. Please remember to dress appropriately for the weather, as we will be both indoors and outdoors.
  • Open house at the Hafnarfjörður Badminton Club in the Sports Hall on Strandgata from 1 pm to 3 pm. Everyone welcome to try badminton; shuttlecocks and rackets are available to borrow on site. Register online. Badminton Association
