Saturday, 11th May at 2 p.m. We warmly welcome you to the opening of the exhibition. At times and at all times, which focuses on the various manifestations of time in the works of three international contemporary women artists, namely Arna Ottarsdottir, Leslie Roberts and Amy Brener. The curator is Ingunn Fjóla Ingþórsdóttir.
Time is all around. It passes, surrounds and constantly slips through our grasp. Since time immemorial, philosophers and other thinkers have pondered the nature of time without reaching a definitive conclusion. Time therefore falls into the category of those phenomena in our existence for which we have no single answer; rather, it is a constant source of new speculation.
In the exhibition, time is examined in a broad context, from philosophical reflections on the concept and nature of time to the personal interpretation of the contemporary that characterises the works. Reflections on time are woven in different ways into the works and working methods of all three.
The craftsmanship found in the works of the artists bears the mark of a longing for slowness and contemplation as a counterpoint to the pace of contemporary life. Their work can thus be read as an attempt to stop time, or even to step out of the contemporary moment and into the indeterminate time of the artwork.
