The organisation Framfarahugur is presenting the powerful play Breathe Respirar next Saturday, 11th May, at Hamrinn. The performance is based on the experiences and world of young participants, most of whom have moved to Iceland due to war or economic crisis in their home countries. The director is Hugrún Margrét and admission is free.

The organisation received a grant from a mental health fund to support the mental wellbeing of young refugees. The group has rehearsed at the Fríkirkjan in Hafnarfjörður and is performing at Hamrinn, where they made the costumes. „The individuals behind the work have given themselves a thousandfold to it, showing courage, compassion and humour. Together we have created this piece, which is based on their experiences, inner world and emotions,“ says Hugrún Margrét.

The exhibition at Hamrinn, 14 Suðurgata, opens at 3 p.m. „The exhibition is ideal for those who want to have an enjoyable and multicultural experience. This unique work showcases the common ground between the cultures of Venezuela, Syria, Kurdistan and Iceland,“ says Hugrún Margrét.
