This morning, fog banks have lain over the western part of the country. Acid haze has also been visible, which is caused by the conversion of SO2 gas into blue SO4 haze. Gas pollution has been measured in the capital region and elsewhere in the south-west. In the capital region today, the wind is light and variable, but this evening it will turn to the south, and the pollution should then blow northwards. Overnight and tomorrow, there will be a noticeable south-easterly wind, and gas pollution is not expected in the capital region. Those who are sensitive and have asthma or other underlying lung and/or heart conditions may experience symptoms due to pollution from the Reykjanes eruption.
