Priority at the after-school club

The after-school activities of the primary schools are a service that the City of Hafnarfjörður has for many years placed great emphasis on providing with dedication and professionalism, as the preventative value of the work is indisputable. Children living in special circumstances can be given priority for the after-school club, and this priority also extends to staff at the City of Hafnarfjörður's after-school clubs.

After-school club – you can apply for a place at an after-school club at the same time as you activate your application for a school place at your chosen school. After-school care is available to all children in Years 1 to 4 at their local school from the end of the school day until 16:30 every weekday, on half-days and during staff planning days. The aim each year is to accept all applications for after-school care, but the final decision is dependent on staffing levels. The waiting list for after-school care is ranked by date of birth and year, so the youngest children are offered a place first if an application is submitted by the specified deadline.
