A historical play about bloody atrocities in the West…
Ariasman is a powerful and dramatic play about one of the greatest atrocities in Icelandic history, the Basque Massacre. In the autumn of 1615, 31 Basque shipwreck survivors were killed by Westfjordic farmers, led by Árni Magnússon, the governor of Önundarfjörður, but the Basques knew him by the name Ariasman. Ariasman is a play based on Tapio Koivukari's historical novel of the same name about the Basque Massacre.
