In my view: Shadow Theatre – a multilingual storytelling workshop
On Sunday 11 October from 1 pm to 3 pm, Hafnarborg and GETA are hosting a multilingual storytelling workshop where participants will create characters and tell…
Sunday, 13th October at 2 p.m. will be offered description About the exhibition by Elín Sigríður María Ólafsdóttir „We see what we want to see.“ at Hafnarborg, where Elín is the artist for Listar án landamæra 2024. A visual description is a method of putting visual things and experiences into words and describing them for those who cannot see with their own eyes. Thorunn Hjartardottir and Guðbjörg H. Leaman will provide the descriptions, but they have been working together on guided tours since 2012, when the first organised guided tour projects in Icelandic took place in this country.
The exhibition features a selection of works spanning the artist's career, from its beginning to the present day. Her subject matter is consistently adventurous, and she often explores the self in different ways as she channels her creativity into words and images. Furthermore, theatre and creative expression have also been a major part of Elín's life; she has worked with the Tjarnarleikhúsið theatre company for many years, published poetry collections, and been involved in all aspects of stage productions, such as costume and set design.
Elín Sigríður María Ólafsdóttir (b. 1983), an artist, actress and poet, has undertaken various courses of study, primarily in art both at home and abroad, and completed a diploma in art for people with disabilities from the Reykjavík School of Visual Arts in 2017. Elín's artworks have been featured widely in solo and group exhibitions, including at the Mosfellsbær Art Gallery and the Safnasafnið, as well as in books and magazines. Elín has also exhibited regularly in collaboration with Art without Borders, as well as providing consultancy on inclusion as a member of Listvinnslan.
