The playground at Álfaberg is in fantastic shape
The playground at Álfaberg in Setberg has been given a new look. It's not just a winter makeover; it has also been refurbished.
Previously, the area only had playground gravel with two spring-mounted play apparatus. Now it boasts rubber surfacing, two toddler swings and a small slide. The playground is intended for the youngest generation.
An area that delights the younger generation
The opportunity was seized when HS Veitur renewed the transformer station by the playground. The area is small but charming; it's perfect for grabbing a picnic blanket and having a lovely picnic by the newly-laid wall when the sun starts to shine and warm the land again.
The town of Hafnarfjörður boasts 70 playgrounds. Quite a few of them are now like new. This year, in addition to this playground at Álfaberg, the playground at Spóaás, the one between Einihlíð and Bjarmahlíð, and those at Hörðuvellir have been renewed.
3-5 pitches renewed each year
Staff at the service centre annually inspect the playgrounds, assess their condition and carry out refurbishments with the help of a contractor. Each year, an average of 3-5 playgrounds are completely refurbished and others are repaired. A certified inspection is carried out on all of them and any defects are repaired. The grounds of nurseries and primary schools are also inspected.
Come on, come and play. The open playgrounds are waiting for you!
