Enrolment for primary schools is handled online via My Pages under: Applications – Primary Schools – Primary School Enrolment. Please note that applications for Hafnarfjörður's primary schools can only be submitted on the city's website. Applications for other primary schools within the municipality and for primary schools in other municipalities must be submitted directly to the relevant school. As spring approaches, the school where a child is placed will send all important information about the school's operations to parents/guardians, including details about the school meals scheme and special preparatory courses held each August for 6-year-old pupils to prepare them before primary school begins. Registration for the 6-year-old course takes place in the spring and is advertised separately.
