Tuesday, 6th May at 12 We welcome you to the final lunchtime concert of the spring term at Hafnarborg, where Edda Austmann, mezzo-soprano, guest Antonia Hevesi, pianist and artistic director of the concert series. The programme for the concert, entitled „All Kinds of Flowers – and Love“, will feature arias from the operas of Gluck, Purcell, Saint-Saëns and Delibes.

Edda Austmann, a mezzo-soprano, began her singing studies at the Reykjavík School of Singing and graduated with a Bachelor's degree in Music from the Royal Academy of Music in London. She won a singing competition and received a full scholarship to study in the opera department of the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland, where she performed several leading roles in the school's opera productions. After graduating, she was offered a place in the Zurich Opera Studio and made her stage debut at the Zurich Opera.

Edda has performed as a soloist with the Royal Scottish National Orchestra and the Zurich Chamber Orchestra at the Tonhalle. She has also been a soloist in choral and orchestral works. Edda has performed in Iceland and Europe, including for the Zurich Opera, Garsington Opera and the Icelandic Opera, as well as with independent opera producers. Edda was most recently coached by Jón Þorsteinsson, a tenor and professor of singing. Edda is the headmistress of the Reykjavík Music School, but has previously worked in management at the Harpa concert hall.

Antonia Hevesi, a pianist, has been the artistic director of the lunchtime concerts at Hafnarborg since their inception, and they have been a regular feature of the museum's programme since 2003. There, Antonía has been joined by many of the country's leading singers, with the aim of the concerts being to give visitors the opportunity to enjoy live music at their leisure. The lunchtime concerts are usually held on the first Tuesday of each month during the winter season.

The concert starts at 12 noon and will last for about half an hour. The venue opens at 11:30 am and the concert is open to all, subject to capacity. Admission is free.
