An innocent is a newborn baby, a newborn chick, that which is new and faces an unknown world. We are shaped by our environment, upbringing, experience, culture and values, but the basic nature of each individual is different.
We categorise everyone into specific groups, types, threat levels and domains. What happens if a person breaks through all the defences — or has never learnt to build them?
Most likely, she would be torn to pieces; she would then stand alone in her innocence, helpless, and be forced to fight for her life.
If she is victorious, she will have gained deep knowledge and learnt that no one is the same. It would be a tragedy if she were to adopt the same rules of the game as those who tried to destroy her.
The most important lesson is to withdraw from that which does not serve her needs, from that which hurts and destroys.
The story in the animal paintings is about allowing each individual to find their own path, their own place — and to be wary of what can undermine their lives.
Let's celebrate diversity and what gives us life force and drives us forward in life.

She breathes in art
From a young age, Laufey has sought refuge in art — music, film, theatre, visual arts…
At seventeen, she founded the punk band PPPönk; in her twenties, she studied acting in Los Angeles; at thirty, she found a home on the Norwegian stage.
A year before she moved to Norway, she began to paint animals — silent and watchful creatures full of wild truth.
For Laufeyju, art is oxygen — a way to breathe, heal, and understand herself and the world.
Unbound by the forms of art, she listens and moves between media.
For her, art is not the final answer — it is the journey itself.
