This series of pen drawings on A4 paper shows floral motifs created with detailed line work and dense cross-hatching. The forms gradually emerge, line by line and dot by dot, a process that requires great concentration and patience.

The works were created over the winter and reflect stillness and a slow pace. The working process is deliberately time-consuming. This slowness is necessary as it allows the artist to immerse themselves completely in the drawing. Through this focused repetition, time itself becomes a space for nostalgia.

As the drawings develop, they become a gateway to memories. A longing for summer, its warmth and vitality, gradually surfaces. From a transport perspective, the works return to Poland as an emotional landscape. They are shaped by personal history and a seasonal rhythm. The flowers hover on the verge of blooming and fading. They carry a sense of homesickness and rootlessness, expressing a quiet desire to reconnect with one's homeland.

Marcelina Maria Kolek (Maria K.) is an artist who studied at the Fine Arts School in Rzeszów, graduating in 2016. During her studies, she acquired knowledge and skills in visual arts, general aesthetics and creativity. With this strong foundation, her path led her to study graphic design at the Wyższa Szkoła Technologii Informatycznych in Katowice, one of Poland's most prestigious schools for design and information technology.

Marcelina is a passionate artist, and this is one of the main hallmarks of her pencil drawings of all kinds of characters and figures, where she gives herself free rein, delves deep into emotion and storytelling, and blends these together in her own unique way. This passion for such drawings translates into the depth and personality of the design projects she undertakes, setting her apart in a way that allows people to connect with her work, to feel the human element that runs through it.

Marcelina is not afraid to experiment in her art, approaching each project with curiosity and a need to test the limits of her artistic practice. Over the years, she has used numerous types of media and forms, always challenging herself, learning, evolving and improving, but never at the expense of trying something new. She is known for letting her imagination run wild, an eye for detail, and a diverse skill set in both art and design. Marcelina brings a fresh perspective to every project.

This series of pen drawings on A4 paper explores the motif of flowers through detailed line work and dense cross-hatching. Each form emerges slowly—line by line, mark by mark—demanding intense focus and sustained attention.

Created during the winter, the works embody stillness, introspection, and the quiet passage of time. The process is deliberately time-consuming and requires a great deal of hard work; this slowness becomes essential, allowing the artist to fully immerse in the act of drawing. Through this focused repetition, time itself transforms into a space for nostalgia.

As the drawings develop, they become a way of holding onto memory. A longing for summer—its warmth, softness, and vitality—gradually surfaces. From the perspective of emigration, the works return to Poland as an emotional landscape, shaped by personal history and seasonal rhythm.

The flowers, suspended between blooming and fading, carry a sense of nostalgia and displacement, expressing a quiet, persistent desire to reconnect with the feeling of home.

Marcelina Maria Kołek (Maria K.) is an experienced graphic designer with a rich creative background rooted in both technical expertise and artistic training. She began her journey at the Fine Arts School in Rzeszów (2016), where she developed a strong foundation in visual arts, aesthetics, and hands-on craftsmanship. Building on this creative foundation, she went on to earn her degree in graphic design from the Wyższa Szkoła Technologii Informatycznych in Katowice (2021), one of Poland's most respected institutions for information technology and design.

Beyond her formal education, Marcelina possesses a deep passion for drawing expressive characters—a pursuit that allows her to explore emotion, storytelling, and dynamic form. This fascination with character art infuses much of her design work with personality and narrative depth, setting her apart as a visual thinker who understands how to connect with audiences on a human level.

With a substantial reservoir of experimental experience, she approaches each project with curiosity and a willingness to push creative boundaries. Over the years, she has explored a wide range of techniques, mediums, and stylistic approaches, continuously refining her craft while remaining open to new artistic challenges. Her work reflects a thoughtful balance between form and function, shaped by a background that merges classical art education with modern design methodologies.

Known for her imaginative approach, technical versatility, and keen eye for detail, Marcelina brings a unique perspective to every project—rooted in tradition, driven by experimentation, and always forward-looking.
