A wide range of services and activities
Ásvallalaug is an indoor pool which is particularly popular with families, and its activities are extremely varied. Activities include, in addition to regular school swimming and training for the swimming clubs SH and Fjarðar, water polo, volleyball, training for scuba diving clubs, training for kayakers, courses for expectant and new mothers, improved swimming technique courses, baby swimming and aqua aerobics. There is good disabled access and a lift available for anyone who needs it. The largest pool at Ásvallalaug is 50 metres wide and is usually divided by a bridge, so one half of the pool is 25 metres long and the other half is 50 metres. The pool has a 17-metre children's pool (90–110 cm deep) and a 10-metre wading pool for the youngest generation with accompanying toys. The temperature of the children's pools is around 32°C, while the swimming pool is 28°C. The temperature inside the hall is always around 30°C. Indoors, there is also a popular water slide, three hot tubs, a cold plunge pool and a steam room. Outdoors, there are two hot tubs and a good sunbathing area, as well as a new outdoor sauna accessed from the side of the pool's cold plunge pool.
