The allocation of nursery places for the autumn takes place in March. Applications must be submitted by 1 March to ensure they are considered in the allocation. You apply for a nursery place for your child in Valu.
New applications will be closed while the allocation process is underway, and after 1 March it will no longer be possible to make changes to applications already submitted.
Offers of nursery places will be sent out at the end of March.

A child can be placed on a waiting list and offered a place, even if their legal residence is elsewhere. The settling-in process cannot begin until their legal residence has been transferred to Hafnarfjörður.
You can apply for more than one nursery in your application. Please take a look at the nurseries on offer, get in touch with the relevant headteachers and find out more about their work. If there is no space at your first-choice nursery, you will be offered a place at a nursery in your second choice; if there is no space there either, you will be offered a place at a nursery where there is availability.
You can choose a stay from 4 hours up to 8.5 hours a day.
