Street sweeping in residential areas begins Monday, 12th October. Hafnarfjörður is divided into 17 neighbourhoods, and one neighbourhood will be featured each day.
Prayers divided into neighbourhoods
Hafnarfjörður is divided into 17 districts and one neighbourhood will be tackled each day. The day before sweeping in a neighbourhood, signs are put up with information about the operation and residents are kept informed as and when possible. In addition, text messages are sent out to all residents who have registered their numbers with 1819.is. Street sweeping within the neighbourhoods will begin on Monday, 12th October in neighbourhood 1 (the town centre).
Cooperation yields the best results
The Municipality of Hafnarfjörður encourages residents and businesses to take an active part in the clean-up. It is important that the streets are clear of cars on the day of the clean-up so that the kerbs and areas between parking spaces can be properly cleaned. It is also an ideal opportunity to sweep or tidy up your local area. With a combined effort, the town will be much tidier and more pleasant for the winter.
