The results of a survey by Rannsóknir og greining, presented in February to all students in the 8th, 9th and 10th grades in Hafnarfjörður, show a positive trend in adolescent substance use.

The results of a survey by Rannsóknir og greining, presented in February to all students in the 8th, 9th and 10th grades in Hafnarfjörður, show a positive trend in adolescent substance use.

Every year, teenagers in Iceland take part in this survey, and the results are compiled from the valid responses of the students who participated. A total of 841 pupils in the secondary classes of Hafnarfjörður's primary schools took part, and according to the survey's results, substance use among adolescents is in considerable decline.

It is noteworthy that no substance use is detected among Year 8 pupils; according to the results, no pupils have consumed alcohol, tobacco or other drugs.
