Why not grow your own vegetables this summer? Allotments and payment for them are allocated at the Hafnarfjörður service centre.
Hafnarfjörður offers plots of land for rent to residents in
Vatnshlíð by Kaldárselsveg. This concerns 125 gardens, the size of the gardens
is about 40 square metres. Tenants of the 2015 allotments have priority to rent the same allotments as last year, provided payment is made by 1 May. The 2016 rent for each allotment is 4,207 krónur.
Hafnarfjörður municipality is responsible for various tasks concerning the allotments:
- Review markings
- Ploughing/tilling of garden plots
- Clear up the large boulders and remove them from the gardens.
- Regularly top up the water troughs located by the gardens.
- Every two to three years, manure is spread in the gardens alongside ploughing.
The allotments are ploughed between 5th and 15th May each year, depending on the weather.
Allotment allocation and payment for plots take place at the Hafnarfjörður Service Centre on the ground floor at Strandgata 6. Tenants must ensure they occupy the correct plot according to the numbering on the plan.
