Want to join in? We need eight people for the lawnmowers.

Hafnarfjörður is looking for eight people aged 18 and over to join its mowing team. A contract has been signed with a contractor to increase the number of mowing areas. Mowing has fallen behind schedule as there is a shortage of hands, and the grass has been exceptionally good this year.

Now it's black – but it should be green! The City of Hafnarfjörður's mowing team is short eight members. This is an opportunity for everyone aged 18 and over. One neighbourhood after another is getting greener and greener; the grass is growing and the small team can't keep up. And – this is an opportunity for women. There are no women in this 19-person team! Come on. Do you want to break the mould and become a Hafnarfjörður mower?

Yes, summer came early. Grass growth began three weeks earlier than usual. The council's mowing team has been prioritising. They are moving between the different neighbourhoods. It goes from the North Town to the Hraunin and the town centre. From there to Setberg, then Hvammur and the South Town. Then the Holtið, and after that the Ásland and the Vellir. The head of horticulture says the shortest time is taken to mow there because the layout of the area is so good, flat and level.

The Municipality of Hafnarfjörður has responded to the shortage of staff and hired contractors to mow more areas. The situation now is that the mowing is about three to four weeks behind schedule. But this can be fixed and improved.

We encourage everyone aged 18 and over to join the City of Hafnarfjörður's mowing team!
