Draft action plan for noise – comments requested

Hafnarfjörður is presenting residents with a draft noise action plan based on the results of a 2022 noise mapping, along with noise maps showing sound levels at a height of 4 metres above ground level. Residents are encouraged to familiarise themselves with the plan and submit any comments by 15 June. The plan is expected to be available in the autumn following approval by the town council.

Comments are requested by 15 June.

Hafnarfjörður is presenting a draft noise action plan for the years 2023 to 2028 to its residents. The preparation of a noise action plan is part of the European Union's Directive on Environmental Noise (2002/49/EC), which was implemented in Iceland by Regulation no. 1000/2005 on noise mapping and action plans, and aims to reduce noise and its adverse effects. The action plan is based on the results of the 2022 noise mapping, along with noise maps showing sound levels at a height of 4 m above ground level.

Residents are encouraged to familiarise themselves with the plan and send any comments to the City of Hafnarfjörður at the following email address: helgas@hafnarfjordur.is  by 15th June.

Plan for approval Autumn 2026

Following the consultation period, the City of Hafnarfjörður will consider all comments received and amend the plan if deemed necessary. The plan is expected to be presented this autumn, following approval by the City Council.
The plan is on public display until 15 June, and residents can make comments on it during this period.
