Hafnarborg's exhibitions will be open as usual on National Day, 17th June, 12-17 but in addition, it will Busy schedule hold a special national costume exhibition in the Pharmacy on the ground floor of the museum, as has become a tradition at the museum in recent years.

The exhibition is called The Valkyrie: „In your image, Iceland is called „the fair Valkyrie“.“. To mark the 80th anniversary of the Icelandic Republic, the ideas of the painter Sigurður Guðmundsson concerning a special Icelandic national costume for women, which was intended to adorn all the 'female personifications of Iceland', will be discussed. Skating costumes and dresses, craftsmanship and fashion will take centre stage, as will the women who worked on the costume design alongside Sigurður. In connection with Annríkis's exhibition, we would also like to point out that a national costume photoshoot will be taking place at Hafnarborg at 3 p.m.

In the bow window on the museum's upper floor, works by participants in the Hafnarborg summer art course will also be on display.

About the museum's current exhibitions

The exhibition is on display in the main hall of Hafnarborg. At times and at all times. The exhibition focuses on the various manifestations of time in the works of three international contemporary women artists: Arna Óttarsdóttir, Amy Brener and Leslie Roberts. Time is examined in a broad context, from philosophical reflections on its concept and nature, to the personal interpretation of the contemporary that characterises the works. The reflections on time are woven in different ways into the works and working methods of all three artists.

In Sverrisal, there is a solo exhibition by Guðný Guðmundsdóttir., Cassioopeia. The exhibition features mainly new and recent works by the artist, created on paper and in clay, as well as video works. She reflects herself in the works, presenting reflections on a wounded ego, self-aggrandisement and narcissism, drawing inspiration from Greek mythology.
