Former and current choir members of the Öldutúnsskóli choir will perform at this major concert in Harpa to celebrate the anniversary. The concert will take place on Sunday, 24th May. Performers will include Margrét Eir, Hanna Björk Guðjónsdóttir, Ívar Helgson and many more. Brynhildur Auðbjargardóttir conducts the choir. She has done so since 2005.
The Öldutúnsskóli Choir is the oldest active children's choir in the country. It was founded on 22 November 1965 by Agli Friðleifsson, who was a great pioneer in the country's children's choir movement, both as a choirmaster and as a teacher to other music teachers and choirmasters.
The choir has become an institution in Hafnarfjörður, with thousands of children and teenagers having sung and worked with it since its inception. Many of them have later pursued music as a career.
The concert starts at 4 p.m.
