Saturday 22nd March, 1pm-3pm Hafnarborg offers a multilingual art workshop where imagination, the blending of cultures and dreams will be explored under the guidance of the artists. Nermine El Ansari and Ingunnar Fjólu Ingþórsdóttir. The languages of the workshop are Icelandic, English and Arabic.

In the workshop, children and adults will be invited to create their own dream worlds through collages. What happens when fragments of the Icelandic landscape are blended with patterns from a Persian rug or architecture from Syria? In imaginary worlds, there are no limits: spaceships can land on Mýrdalsjökull or the Taj Mahal can rise on Sprengisandur. Bring the family and explore your imaginary world! All materials will be provided.

Nermine El Ansari (b. 1975) is an Egyptian artist who lives and works in Reykjavik, Cairo and Marseille. She holds an MA in multimedia from the Paris Academy of Art and a BA in painting from the Versailles Academy.

Ingunn Fjóla Ingþórsdóttir (b. 1976) is an Icelandic artist based in Hafnarfjörður. She holds an MA in Fine Art from the Iceland Academy of the Arts, as well as a BA in Art History from Aarhus University. Ingunn Fjóla is also the founder of GETU – a charity.

In My Language is a series of events that aims to increase access to Hafnarborg for people from diverse backgrounds by welcoming visitors in different languages. The event is a collaboration between Hafnarborg and GETU – a charity that, through a variety of events and social activities, seeks to promote inclusion and positive multiculturalism. The project is supported by the museum fund.

The workshop takes place on the ground floor of the museum. It is open to all ages, but children must be accompanied by a parent or guardian. As always, participation in workshops and admission to the museum's exhibitions are free of charge for visitors.
