The Bláalónsþrautin will be held on 10 June 2023. As with last year, there will also be a half-distance 30 km race and e-bike categories of 60 km and 30 km. The race has been the largest mountain bike competition in Iceland for many years, with thousands having completed the challenging route from Hafnarfjörður to Grindavík via the Dúpavatnsleið. The Kaldársel road from Hlíðarþúfur to Hvaleyrarvatnsvegur and the Hvaleyrarvatnsvegur to Krísuvíkurvegur will be closed for approximately 15 minutes during the start. Immediately afterwards, the Hvaleyrarvatnsvegur will be closed for approximately 15 minutes.

The start times are as follows:
- First wave at Ásvallalaug 60 km. Start at 18:00.
- Second wave at Ásvallalaug, 60 km e-bike. Start at 18:15.
- Third wave at Krísuvíkurkirkja 30 km. Start at 18:30.
- Fourth wave at Krísuvíkurkirkja, e-bike 30 km. Start at 18:45.
A limited number of tickets are available. As usual, the Blue Lagoon is offering bathing and refreshments after the competition.
