Sketches // Sigurjón Már Svanbergsson
Sketching is not about precision but rather about capturing the main points, form and movement on paper. To achieve this…
Ágúst graduated from the painting department of the MHÍ in 1996. He has held several solo and group exhibitions, including at the Safnahúsið in Sauðárkrókur, Villa Nova, Hotel Varmahlíð and with the art association Solón, which was based in the Gúttó House in Sauðárkrókur.
Ágúst grew up in Sauðárkrókur and has always drawn inspiration from nature. This exhibition features oil paintings inspired by the energy of nature he experienced in his youth. In his works for this exhibition, vibrant colours and forms blend together, approaching an abstract structure whilst retaining a natural form and flow.
Ágúst has recently moved to Reykjavík, where he is now practising his art, and this is his first solo exhibition in the Greater Reykjavík area for 20 years.
The exhibition opening will be on Thursday, 20th February from 18:00-20:00 and all are welcome!
Other opening times:
Friday 21 February 13:00 – 18:00
Saturday 22 February 12:00 – 16:00
Sunday 23 February 14:00 – 17:00

Ágúst graduated from the painting department of the Icelandic School of Arts and Crafts in 1996. He has taken part in a few group exhibitions and held his solo exhibitions, e.g. in the Safnahús in Sauðárkrókur, Villa Nova, Hotel Varmahlíð and with the art association Solón in the Gúttó building in his native town, Sauðárkrókur.
Ágúst grew up in Sauðárkrókur and has always sought his inspiration in nature. In this exhibition, we can see oil paintings inspired by the forces of nature he experienced growing up. In his paintings, we can see powerful colours and forms intermingling and almost turning into abstract constructions while at the same time keeping pace with natural form and flow.
Ágúst has recently moved to Reykjavík and continues his artistic endeavours. This is his first solo exhibition in Reykjavík for 20 years.
The exhibition opening is on 20th February from 18:00-20:00 and all are welcome!
