This exhibition is the result of several years' work, and the material comes from all directions.

The great outdoors and the environment have always been a vital part of my life. I am a keen admirer of the Icelandic nature and travel extensively around the country, whether in summer or winter. In the summer, I seek out places I have not been to before, but I also often return to the same locations to see how nature changes with the different seasons. On these trips, I take a lot of photographs and tend to focus on the small details of nature, rather than the bigger picture, which still gets included naturally.

Flowers, grasses and all sorts of plants have fascinated me for a long time. The country's nature is a constant source of inspiration, as are the garden flowers and plants that grow in our immediate surroundings. The different textures of the flower buds arouse interest and evoke thoughts of the magnificence of nature. The colours, patterns and composition of flowers are a testament to how infinitely remarkable and magical nature is. It is a challenge to capture nature on canvas, and this can be done in many different ways, whether using realistic or abstract methods.

I mainly work on my paintings in the winter, often drawing inspiration from photographs I have taken on my travels around the country.

Rósa Sigurbergsdóttir (1957) was born in Hafnarfjörður and attended Öldutúnsskóli before going to the Icelandic School of Commerce and the Icelandic Teachers' College, from which she graduated in 1981. Rósa worked as a teacher at Öldutúnsskóli from 1982 to 2024.

Rósa has always had a great interest in art and attends art exhibitions at home and abroad whenever the opportunity arises. In 2007-2008, she studied at the Continuing Education of the University of Iceland with a focus on the arts. She became closely acquainted with oil painting, which captivated her, and was mentored by Jón Reykdal during this time. Rósa has been painting ever since and has attended courses at the Reykjavík School of Art and the Kópavogur School of Art for many years. She has been mentored by Þórri Hringsson, Sigtryggur Baldursson, Einar Garibaldi Eiríksson, Bjarni Sigurbjörnsson, Svanborgar Matthíasdóttur, Margrétar Zóphóníasdóttur and Halldórs Kristjánssonar.

Rósa held a solo exhibition at the Icehouse in Hafnarfjörður in the spring of 2016 and an exhibition at the Litla Gallerý in February 2020. This is her third solo exhibition.

This exhibition is the result of several years of work and the inspiration comes from all directions.

Outdoor activities and the environment have always been a big part of my life. I am a sincere admirer of Icelandic nature and travel a lot around the country, whether it is in summer or winter. In the summer, I want to see places I haven't been to before, but I also often go to the same places to see how nature changes in different seasons. Flowers, grasses and all kinds of herbs have fascinated me for a long time. The nature of the countryside is a constant source, but also garden flowers and herbs that grow in our immediate surroundings. The different textures of the flower buds arouse interest and thoughts about the magnificence of nature.
