The Hafnarfjörður Run will be held for the third time on Thursday, 12th June at 8 p.m. The run will be a fantastic route from the town centre through the harbour's residential and commercial areas. The Port of Hafnarfjörður and Eimskip are opening a special toll area to create one of the fastest road race courses in the country. Two distances are on offer, 5 km and 10 km. The race is organised by the FH Athletics Department in collaboration with the City of Hafnarfjörður, Fjarðarkaup, Nike and other sponsors.

The running route is flat, which makes the race excellent for setting personal bests, while at the same time being very accessible for those just starting out in running. The course is 5 km, and participants in the 10 km race run two laps.

The men's and women's winners of the 5k and 10k will receive generous prizes from Nike. Age group winners will be recognised. Lucky participants will win prize draws. All participants will be invited for a swim after the race.

Directions

The start is on Strandgata by Thorsplan. Run along Vesturgata and out onto the Nordurbakki. There, turn onto Strandstígur and run back along the Nordurbakki. At the bus stop opposite the Sports Hall, turn out onto Strandgata and run out to the harbour by Hafró. There, you enter a restricted area of Hafnarfjörður Harbour and continue to the restricted operations area of Eimskip. From there, head to Óseyrarbraut towards Fornubúðir and run back along Strandgata. At Hafnarfjarðarkirkja, turn off the roundabout onto Lækjargata and continue along Strandgata to Thorsplan. The running route is flat around the harbour in the most beautiful fjord in the country. There will be improvements there.

Due to road closures, there will be a 80-minute time limit for the 10 km. Those who do not expect to finish within this time are encouraged to register for the 5 km run.
